Hi Everyone, I would first like to thank Walt Huston for helping organize the Tacoma Layout tours, and my helper Jim Younkins. I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Also thank you to everyone on the tours, I hope you all had a great time as I know I did. We had 41 visitors to the Tenino Western and operated nine trains.

On another note, while getting ready for the tour, one of my projects was to complete the Scatter Creek Brewing Company’s brew house, and shipping facilities. I’ve attached a few pictures of the finished product. Also, today I noticed the TWRR received some new power. I have no idea what the company is going to do with it, as no one was available for comment. I assume the power will be repainted, re-geared, and used for the “Beer” passenger train. Who knows, maybe the units will be hard pressed into freight service since one of the TWRR GP38-2’s has a cracked crank shaft and is down for major repair. I addition the Scatter Creek depot is now open for business. Let me know what you guy’s think, any comments? Tyler

Hi Everyone, I decided to take the night off of work and spend some time on the layout. Today I finished the main brewing house, bottling plant, and warehouse for Scatter Creek Brewing Company. The only details I have left on the structures is adding interior details behind one of the warehouse doors and numbering the two doors on the draft beer shipping warehouse. From left to right is the main brew house and draft beer shipping warehouse, then the blending house, bottling plant, and far right is the shipping and receiving warehouses, which ships out bottled and canned beer. It appears the roof is in bad shape on the bottling plant and in need or some major repairs. Let me know what you guy’s think. My next scratch building project is going to be the hops/malt barley elevator. Also, Thanks to everyone who made it to the op session last weekend after the boeing show. I had a lot of fun and hope to see you at the open house this weekend. Tyler

Happy Halloween

Hi Everyone, I was surprised to see these two cars being switched out at Tenino today on the TWRR. Have a safe and Happy Halloween. Tyler

Tenino Western Update

Hi Everyone, Its been a busy week for construction crews at Scatter Creek. The shipping warehouse is nearing completion and the basic walls are going up on the brew house and draft beer warehouse. For those of you that are following along or just like the Tenino Western, my friend Brian Sopke started a website for the TWRR. https://teninowesternrailroad.wordpress.com/ Check it out if you get a chance and feel free to leave comments. See you on down the tracks, Tyler

TWRR Scatter Creek Brewery update‏

Hi Everyone, Its been a little while since my last update on the Tenino Western so I figured I better send out one. I’ve been working 12 hour shifts at work, but still found a little time to work on the layout. I decided to scratch build Scatter Creek Brewing Company, based off the Olympia Brewery. The first image is the SC bottling plant. This structure is completely scratch build with evergreen styrene sheets and stripes, with a rolled paper roof from american model builders and details from walthers and gold medal models. To the left of the structure will be the tall brew house’s. Next up is the ware house, also build with styrene with details from grandt line doors, american model builders roofing, NU line skylights, and walthers vents. The last image shows the overall scene so far. I still need to build an overhead covered walkway between the two building and do some major ground work. Let me know what you guy’s think. Tyler

Hi everyone, I finally got a few shots of some GP’s found on the Tenino Western. As you can guess their hard at work on coal trains, log trains, heavy manifest, and whatever else the TWRR can throw their way. It seems these units have seen better days and by the looks of it their due for an overhaul, or at least a good scrubbing. I feel I need a testiness shot just from looking at them. Maybe I can convince the TWRR management to build a wash rack? Thats all for now. Tyler

Hi Everyone, The SC Brewing company received all the permits to start building. The first new structure to be started is the shipping and receiving warehouse. Forty by three hundred and sixty feet long, the structure dwarfs a fifty foot high cube boxcar. Also the TWRR started a Trailer of Flatcar TOFC facility across the tracks from the brewery. Rumor has it they have a Piggy Packer on order, as well as some TWRR forty foot trailers. Let me know what you think. Tyler

Hi Everyone, I finally found some motivation to work on the TWRR again. Its been hard with the nice weather and work. Here’s a couple of pictures of a Scatter Creek Brewery mock up and a shot of Pacific Recycling, which has recently taken up residence on the west end of Cosmopolis. The building in the background will be Arctic Refrigeration. “Bring on the frozen goods!” Tyler

Hi Everyone, It’s been fairly busy around the TWRR shops. Earlier this week two ex-Union Pacific Harriman coaches arrived and have since been rebuilt/repainted into Tenino Western executive cars. The drum head reading “Olympian” on the observation car “Whitcomb” still needs to be lit. The other car “Rainier” is a standard coach car. An additional coach and a modified open seating car will be added to the train. What do you guy’s think? Any suggestions. Tyler

When we rode the train to the falls I noticed a few of the coaches looked like Harriman cars. Needless to say I was inspired to work on my TWRR observation car. Its now ready for the paint shop. Let me know what you guy’s think and if it’s TWRR road worthy. The shop crew fixed the air leakage and did a little fabrication work to add the obsrvation platform. Tyler
